Say bye to the champagne-coloured buses in Hong Kong, as the local bus company KMB is introducing new red buses to the city. With the new theme ‘Heartbeat of the City’, the red bus actually symbolises blood, and the roads are blood vessels. KMB buses therefore transport various ‘nutrients’ to keep the city vibrant and alive.
In addition to much more aesthetically appealing and more comfortable seats that are designed to support the neck and back better, the buses also have free wifi as well as USB ports to charge your phone, especially during long journeys.
Hong Kong buses were actually red in colour during the 50s’ when the bus company KMB first started. It has developed into various other models since then and has a long history. The company decided to stick with the champagne-coloured bus in the naughties but it didn’t win the hearts of the Hongkongers.
Now that KMB announced to adopt red as the main body ‘s colour for Hong Kong buses again, the general public seems to be looking forward to it. Could you imagine how Hong Kong would look like with its streets filled with big red buses? Prettier or uglier? Vote down below!
