It has been hard to find the perfect shisha lounge (shisha, hookah, whatever you call it) that offers the impeccably smooth puff with no ashy aftertaste. But nothing could have stopped our quest for the best shisha bars in Hong Kong. From smoking with a view to pure indulgence in the high-quality shisha itself, we have you all covered.
Sahara Meez Bar
It is not uncommon to see a lively crowd filling this Moroccan bar smoking shisha when you pass by Elgin Street, and it’s not hard to understand why. First of all, this is probably the cheapest shisha you could get in LKF, for just HK$150! Despite the very affordable price, the quality of shisha is supreme. The bar uses real coals for the shisha, and the double apple-flavoured pipe tastes exactly like double apple!
We also love the vibe here which is infectious with Moroccan lights and music playing in the background. The service is excellent as their polite and friendly staff would regularly come to check up on your shisha session and replace the pipe’s coal with little or no prompt to do so, unlike other typical shisha bars in Hong Kong where the staff would stay away as much as they could when they notice that you would want your coal changed and even charge you per charcoal change!

Charcoal is a minimally decorated shisha bar with a contemporary industrial interior covered in charcoal gray with a hint of gold. There is also a large terrace overlooking Lan Kwai Fong, which is a great breezy spot to enjoy the shisha under fine weather.
The shisha itself is one of the best we’ve had in Hong Kong. You know how you always have to ask someone to come and change the charcoal for you in Hong Kong even after a short while? In Charcoal, we didn’t even have to change the coal once after our an hour and a half stay. Bonus for the bar is their music. We love their chill house beats that would well prepare you for the mood before you hit the clubs.

Probably one of the most expensive shishas in town (ranging from HK$390-HK$900!), but they do have a splendid view of the cityscape from high above, and their shisha does hit you with the ice hose tip that really makes the smoke smooth and impeccable. It’s best to watch the sundowning with their lounge music that makes up for an incredible ambiance.

The Egyptian lounge sits along the TST East harbourfront, in which you could smoke the puff in the alfresco area and enjoy the spectacular panoramic vies of Victoria Harbour. They have a cozy and intimate private room inside where you sit on the ground and smoke, which is very Egyptian-inspired that always adds to the vibe.
They used to play traditional Middle Eastern music that got us into the mood which we loved, unfortunately, we don’t know for what reason, they’ve switched the playlist to some very pop music now, such as Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. We tried to ask the manager if they could switch it back to the Middle Eastern music but we were rejected. So we aren’t really a fan anymore as music is very important to us when smoking shisha.
The two-storey Mediterranean establishment on Staunton Street not only has some beautiful and exotic Turkish decors, but also serves high-quality shisha, which is served in elegant glass narghiles with organic coconut charcoal and real fruit-infused water for the well. Awtar also offers a fresh fruit option that places organic fruits at the head of the narghile, directly infusing the aroma and flavour of fruit into each draw which makes you crave for more.

Mahalo Tiki Lounge
The contemporary Hawaiian bar in the high air of Wanchai has recently introduced shisha to further unwind their guests, despite their already chill vibes of music, tropical plants and the open-air terrace with a refreshing view of the city from above. To provide an escape from the typical boring flavours, Mahalo’s shisha menu has got some fun and sweet notes such as Blueberry Muffin, Mint Chocolate Chill, Spiced Chai, to name but a few.

A very exclusive hookah lounge in Tsim Sha Tsui that accepts book-in-advance only. So make sure you call before you head there do not just walk in. Nu Aer doesn’t have any promotions really, people basically know about it by word of mouth, that’s how good their shisha is. Despite their signature shisha base with plants and even fish in it, their gummy bear shisha is also a must try, with REAL GUMMY BEARS in it!

The Shisha at Boba Bear from Los Angeles is probably one of the best in town. What outstands them from most of the shisha bars in Hong Kong is that they use natural and long-lasting coconut charcoal, which can last up to 3 hours with no ashy aftertaste! B.B. also serves over 30 flavours and you can mix and match three different flavours. Head to the one in Causeway Bay if you’re in the mood for a breezy rooftop view with your smoke, otherwise the Soho location is snug and close to other night funs.
